The Story
From Investigative Journalism to Digital Advocacy
Bryan Mealer grew up in West Texas, where storytelling wasn't a career — it was survival. He spent years working alongside roughnecks, farmers, and families scraping together a life in the Permian Basin. Those years taught him something no journalism school could: how to find truth, how to build a case, and how to hold powerful institutions accountable.
His writing appeared in Harper's Magazine, the New York Times, Wired, and dozens of other publications. He was nominated for National Magazine Awards, recognized by the Texas Institute of Letters, and authored The Kings of Big Spring — a sweeping family memoir that became a landmark of American non-fiction.
The pivot to content removal was organic. Friends, colleagues, and subjects of his journalism started asking for help. An ex-partner had shared intimate photos without consent. A business owner was being buried by fake reviews and defamatory posts. A public figure was being impersonated on multiple platforms. Bryan knew the systems, knew the policies, and knew exactly how to document a case.
What began as informal help became a formal agency in 2019. Today, the Bryan Mealer Content Removal Agency is the only team in this space led by a decorated investigative journalist — and that difference shows in the results.
“The platforms have policies. They have procedures. Most people don't know how to use them. We do — and we don't stop until the content is gone.”
